Backup quarterback Andy Dalton left the preseason game against the Houston Texans after one series due to a right elbow injury. Dalton, who is 37 years old, played six snaps and completed two of four passes for 22 yards.

After being checked by the athletic training staff, Dalton threw a few passes on the sideline before having a black protective sleeve placed on his elbow. He then huddled with staffers and remained on the sidelines in uniform alongside the other quarterbacks.

Dalton was replaced by third-string quarterback Jack Plummer in the second quarter. Starting quarterback Bryce Young and the rest of the starters participated in two series but were unable to convert either into first downs, going three-and-out both times.
