Bryce Young, the Carolina Panthers quarterback, will soon return to campus as the team prepares for training camp. Recently, he revisited his old school, Mater Dei High School, where he hosted a youth camp for his foundation. Reflecting on his journey from high school to becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Young shared insights about his growth and experiences.
“Obviously, a lot more experiences in life, growth,” Young stated. “But you know, to be honest with you, I feel like there’s a lot of similarities from where I was at in high school until now.”
Young reminisced about familiar places at Mater Dei and emphasized that despite changes in his life, he remains grounded. He advised others to “run your own race,” acknowledging that everyone has unique paths and journeys.
“It’s hard sometimes when you look at people around you or you try to compare to other people,” he said. “So just to focus on what’s important and to run your own race would probably be the best advice I have.”
