Ashley Westwood, captain of Charlotte FC, marked his 100th appearance for the club during a 2-0 win over Toronto FC. Westwood joined Charlotte ahead of the 2023 season and has been a regular presence on the field since then.
The English midfielder has played in every league match except six since his arrival. He has captained the team in all of his appearances and completed the full match in all but five games.
Before joining Charlotte FC, Westwood made 489 appearances in English football, including 286 matches in the Premier League with Aston Villa and Burnley.
In September 2024, Westwood extended his contract with Charlotte FC through 2026, with an option for an additional year.
“Ashley’s professionalism and leadership have been vital to our team,” said Dean Smith, Head Coach of Charlotte FC. “Reaching this milestone so quickly speaks to his dedication and quality.”
Westwood’s continued role as captain highlights his importance to the club both on and off the pitch.
