Charlotte FC is set to host Columbus Crew at Bank of America Stadium for their second meeting this season. The match, scheduled for Saturday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. ET, will be broadcast on Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass and available on WFNZ 92.7 FM in English and WOLS 106.1 FM in Spanish.

This game marks Charlotte’s last home fixture before embarking on a five-match away series throughout June. Charlotte FC aims to improve its recent form after losing four consecutive matches across all competitions and five within Major League Soccer (MLS).

In their previous encounter earlier this month, Columbus Crew defeated Charlotte FC 4-2. Currently third in the Eastern Conference standings, Columbus Crew employs a strategy focused on possession and controlled pressing, leading the league in various possession metrics.

Despite their recent loss to D.C. United in the U.S. Open Cup round of 16, Charlotte showed promise with Patrick Agyemang scoring again and Tyger Smalls netting his first career goal for the club. Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty contributed two assists while Eryk Williamson added another assist to his tally.

Charlotte has managed to avoid defeat in five of their last seven encounters against Columbus with a record of 2-2-3. They aim to capitalize on opportunities by exploiting gaps in Columbus’s defense through quick ball movement.

Columbus’s game plan revolves around maintaining high possession percentages and wearing down opponents through consistent ball control. The team leads MLS not only in possession percentage but also in several other related statistics including total touches and passes received.

For Charlotte FC to secure three points, disrupting Columbus’s rhythm will be crucial by maintaining possession themselves during the match.
