Charlotte FC is set to begin its 2025 Leagues Cup campaign with a home match against FC Juárez at Bank of America Stadium on July 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET. This fixture marks the club’s first-ever meeting with the Mexican side in the annual competition, which features Major League Soccer clubs facing off against teams from Liga MX.

The Leagues Cup opens with a group stage where each club plays three matches, primarily against teams from the opposing league. The top four teams from each league advance to a knockout round that will decide the tournament champion.

Charlotte FC enters the tournament riding a five-match unbeaten streak, including a club-record four consecutive wins. All three of their group stage matches will be played at Bank of America Stadium, providing an opportunity for strong home support as they aim for silverware.

Associate Head Coach Miles Joseph commented on the team’s mindset heading into the competition: “I think our group is ready. They’re excited about the opportunity to win a trophy, the opportunity they have with all the players coming back and the freshness that we have within the group… It’s a difficult tournament to win with the format, you can’t leave any points on the table so you have to fight for everything.”

During July, Charlotte’s attacking unit—composed of Pep Biel (four goals, four assists), Idan Toklomati (three goals), Kerwin Vargas (two goals, one assist), and Wilfried Zaha (one goal, four assists)—accounted for 19 goal contributions across five matches. The club will rely on these players to maintain their form as Leagues Cup play begins.

The squad also welcomes back fullback Nathan Byrne following neck surgery in May. Since joining Charlotte FC in 2022, Byrne has made 87 appearances in all competitions and started eight matches this season, helping secure three clean sheets and contributing to a 5-2-1 start before his injury.

Fans can watch Thursday’s match via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV or listen locally on WFNZ 92.7 FM (English) and WOLS 106.1 FM (Spanish).
