Major League Soccer (MLS) has announced that Charlotte FC will host the 2026 MLS All-Star Game, a first for the club. The event is set to take place at Bank of America Stadium and will be broadcast in over 100 countries via the Apple TV app.
David Tepper, owner and chairman of Tepper Sports & Entertainment, expressed his pride in hosting the game, stating: “The success of soccer matches at Bank of America Stadium has helped position Charlotte on the global stage as a premier destination for hosting some of the world’s top players and teams.”
The announcement was made by MLS Commissioner Don Garber at a press conference held at Bank of America Stadium. Attendees included David Tepper; Nicole Tepper, Chief Administrative Officer; Kristi Coleman, CEO; Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles; North Carolina Secretary of Commerce Lee Lilley; and Johnny Harris from the Charlotte Sports Foundation Board.
Governor Josh Stein commented on North Carolina’s selection as host: “I am proud that North Carolina has been chosen to host the 2026 Major League Soccer All-Star Game.” Mayor Vi Lyles emphasized the economic benefits: “Events like this don’t just bring excitement — they bring meaningful economic impact.”
Will Pitts, CEO of the Charlotte Sports Foundation, shared his enthusiasm for hosting: “Charlotte’s vibrant energy, passionate soccer community, and unmatched hospitality will create an unforgettable experience for fans.”
Since its debut in 2022, Charlotte FC has been among the top clubs in attendance at Bank of America Stadium. Nearly three million fans have attended various matches since its inception.
The stadium itself has transformed under Tepper Sports & Entertainment’s ownership into a multi-sport hub. The venue generates an annual economic impact of $1.1 billion for the area.
The date and opponent for the 2026 game are yet to be announced. However, it promises a week-long celebration with events like the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge presented by AT&T.
