David Moore has signed a third consecutive contract with the Carolina Panthers, the team announced on Mar. 10, keeping the veteran wide receiver in Charlotte for another season. Moore said he is eager to continue contributing both on and off the field after recovering from an elbow injury that sidelined him last year.
Moore’s return is significant for the Panthers as they look to build on recent progress within their receiving corps. The group saw notable development last season, including standout performances by Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker. Moore’s experience in the offense and his rapport with quarterback Bryce Young are expected to provide stability and mentorship for younger players.
“I just love being around people I’m comfortable with,” Moore said shortly after signing his new deal. He added, “And, Dave, Brad (Idzik), a lot of the coaches here I’m pretty comfortable with, and for sure a lot of the players now that I’ve been with them for two years.” Moore described how he has embraced a mentoring role during his recovery: “Being here and being a shoulder to lean on, just an outlet to talk to whenever about anything. Not even football related, but just a good friend or brother, and that usually takes a lot of people a long way, just having someone they can kind of trust in and know that they have somebody behind their back. That was one role I got to kind of tap into this past year due to the injury.”
Moore also discussed his determination following his injury: “I’d say the day that day it happened, I went in the locker room and I thought I was coming back outside to play (even) after my arm was bent backwards,” he said. Despite missing most of last season, Moore remained involved as a mentor for younger teammates like McMillan and Coker.
The Panthers play their home games in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina according to the official website. The organization has secured multiple division titles and playoff appearances according to its official website. The team also emphasizes building a championship culture while engaging in community outreach across North and South Carolina according to its official website.
Looking ahead, Moore expressed optimism about both his health and the team’s direction: “They did exactly what I was hoping they would do and come alive and grow into that offense that we’ve been talking about for the past couple of years,” he said. “And it’s just only going to get better. So if it’s only going to get better, I feel like I could just add to it and it’d be just that much better.”
