In Charlotte, Lathan Ransom is carving out his path in the NFL as a member of the Panthers’ safety group. Despite a past interest in acting or broadcasting, Ransom has dedicated himself to football, spending countless hours reviewing practice footage.
Ransom’s commitment stems from his desire to improve and contribute to his team. “I came out so motivated because I haven’t achieved anything yet,” he explained. His determination was evident during his time at Ohio State, where he overcame injuries to become a starter on the National Championship team.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales recognized Ransom’s championship mentality during the draft. “First and foremost, you look for the guys that exhibit that kind of effort and juice,” Canales stated. He praised Ransom’s intelligence and winning mentality.
Ransom attributes much of his success to lessons learned at Ohio State. “It taught me how to build a routine,” he said. Now, as an NFL rookie, he’s eager to learn from veteran players while contributing to the team’s success.
His journey hasn’t been without challenges; significant injuries tested his resolve but never diminished his dream of playing in the NFL. “I always believed that I was good enough,” Ransom shared.
Joining experienced players like Tre’von Moehrig and Nick Scott, along with breakout rookie Demani Richardson, Ransom brings experience and physicality to the Panthers’ safety group. General manager Dan Morgan highlighted Ransom’s passion for the game: “You could tell he just enjoys the physical aspects of the game.”
As Ransom transitions into professional football, he’s ready to demonstrate his skills on the field alongside his teammates.
