The Carolina Panthers have made roster adjustments ahead of their game against the Miami Dolphins, adding both experience and depth to their defense.
Defensive end LaBryan Ray was activated from injured reserve after beginning practice this week. Ray, who has played in 33 games over the past two seasons and started nine last year, is expected to bolster the defensive line. The move comes as Tershawn Wharton will be sidelined with a toe injury.
Ray had been listed as questionable on the injury report, but that designation was related to his roster status rather than any physical setback. According to the team, “He’s healthy and ready to go.”
In addition to Ray’s activation, linebacker Krys Barnes has been elevated from the practice squad for Week 5 by standard elevation. Barnes brings experience both on special teams and defense. The 27-year-old has appeared in 68 NFL games, making 30 starts during his previous stints with the Packers and Cardinals.
These changes are aimed at addressing depth issues on defense as the Panthers prepare for Sunday’s matchup.
