Adam Thielen, a player for the Carolina Panthers, organized an offseason retreat in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The event aimed to strengthen bonds among the team’s receivers and quarterback Bryce Young. Despite Minneapolis not being a typical summer destination, Thielen invited his teammates to enjoy some downtime together.
Thielen said he wanted to host the players at his home for dinners and relaxation. Young quickly supported the idea and took charge of organizing the trip. “Bryce was all about it,” Thielen said, highlighting Young’s leadership skills.
The group spent their mornings training at Thielen’s regular gym before heading to Woodbury High School. Thielen joked about hoping to share some of his wife’s championship mentality with the team.
The retreat focused on building chemistry rather than practicing new plays. “It’s important just to get away from the building,” Thielen explained, emphasizing the need for relaxed interactions outside football’s serious environment.
The players also attended a Minnesota Lynx game and enjoyed water sports during a lake day. While some were hesitant about water activities, like Xavier Legette who initially resisted getting on the boat, they eventually joined in after encouragement from teammates.
Thielen noted that such experiences help understand each other better on a personal level. “You kind of understand where guys are coming from,” he said, stressing that these bonds could be crucial during stressful game situations.
Overall, this retreat served as an essential team-building exercise for the Panthers’ receiving corps ahead of their 2025 season.
