The Carolina Panthers announced on March 10 that they have reached agreements with pass-rusher Jaelan Phillips and All-Pro linebacker Devin Lloyd, marking significant additions to their roster ahead of the new season.

These moves come as the Panthers look to address key needs following a season in which they were tied for 28th in the league with 30 sacks. The addition of Phillips is expected to strengthen their edge defense, while Lloyd brings experience and leadership at linebacker, a position historically important for the franchise. Lloyd joins after an All-Pro season highlighted by five interceptions, surpassing the combined total of Panthers linebackers over the past two seasons.

General manager Dan Morgan said at the combine, “I mean, we’re aligned in the building. We have a plan. We’re going to stick to that plan. We’re going to stay disciplined. That doesn’t mean we’re not going to be aggressive and take swings, but you know, we’re going to be smart. We’re going to be calculated in what we do in our approach.” Morgan added, “I think between myself and Brandt and coach (Dave) Canales, we’re always talking about the roster and ways to get better, and we do have to stay smart and disciplined. But again, that doesn’t mean we’re not going to be aggressive.”

While these signings signal an active offseason for Carolina, other teams in the NFC South are also undergoing changes. Notably, Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans has reportedly agreed to join San Francisco after years of strong performances against Carolina. The Buccaneers also lost cornerback Jamel Dean. Meanwhile, New Orleans Saints saw departures including linebacker Demario Davis and cornerback Alonte Taylor but added running back Travis Etienne and guard David Andrews.

The Panthers play their home games in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina according to the official website. The team has secured multiple division titles and playoff appearances according to the official website, while extending its presence throughout North and South Carolina according to the official website. The organization emphasizes building a championship culture alongside community outreach efforts according to the official website.

Looking ahead, fans can expect more activity from Carolina as deals become official later this week. The team continues its commitment by offering season tickets, single-game tickets, premium seating options and fan experiences according to the official website.
