The Carolina Panthers’ rookie class has developed a strong bond during the offseason, likened to a summer camp experience. Initially spending time together through ice breaker activities and card games, the group has maintained their connection even as they transition into team meetings and individual routines.
Offensive coordinator Brad Idzik remarked on the camaraderie within the group, stating, “They’ve really kind of bonded, which is a fun group to work with.” The eight-man draft class has been forming relationships with veteran teammates while also finding time for social activities such as lunches and video game nights.
Running back Trevor Etienne emphasized the collective goal among the rookies: “We all want to do whatever we can to help each other succeed at the end of the day.”
General manager Dan Morgan and coach Dave Canales focused on drafting players who not only bring fierce competition but also fit a specific mindset desired in the locker room. Idzik echoed this sentiment: “We bring the guys in the building that fit the mold of their approach to the game.”
Nic Scourton expressed his satisfaction with his fellow draftees: “I think they drafted a really good group of guys…we got a lot of good people who love football and are very competitive.”
Idzik noted that this bond extends beyond social interactions, impacting their performance on the field. He observed collaboration among different positions within the rookie class, saying, “All those guys really are helping each other out…the tight ends and receivers working together.”
As training camp approaches, Idzik remains optimistic about their progress: “These guys are preparing to avoid that rookie wall altogether, and I think they’re doing that together.”
