Even though it began with rain and ended on a windy and cool day, Panthers head coach Dave Canales expressed his enthusiasm after Tuesday’s OTA practice. “What a great day,” he stated during a press conference.
Canales announced that the Panthers would have a second joint practice this year in Houston before their road preseason game. He noted that starting the regular season in Jacksonville with a 1 p.m. kickoff in humid North Florida influenced this decision.
“That’ll be a great one, you know,” Canales remarked about working with the Texans prior to the August 16 road game. He highlighted the benefit of practicing in warm and humid conditions similar to those in Jacksonville.
In addition to this, the Panthers will host a joint practice with the Browns before their preseason opener. Canales emphasized that practicing on the road provides valuable experience for what is still considered a young team.
“I always like these moments too because you travel a little earlier to have a joint practice, so there’s just more time at the hotel for the players to connect, the coaches to connect, and all that,” Canales said. He added that these sessions serve as team-building exercises and bring fresh energy into the competitive environment.
Canales confirmed there were no plans for an additional joint practice with the Steelers before their third preseason game.
