The Carolina Panthers have made a change to their roster by signing undrafted rookie JJ Weaver from Kentucky as an outside linebacker. Weaver, 25, has played six seasons in college and achieved 21.5 sacks during his tenure. He was also a three-time team captain for the Wildcats.

To accommodate Weaver’s addition, the Panthers released outside linebacker Amare Barno. Barno, who was selected in the sixth round of the 2022 draft, suffered an ACL tear late in the 2023 season and began last year on the physically unable to perform list. Over three seasons, he recorded 3.0 sacks across 29 games.
