The Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd, according to multiple reports on March 9. The deal is expected to become official at the start of the league year on Wednesday.
Lloyd, who is 27 years old, was named a second-team All-Pro last season and made his first Pro Bowl appearance. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 235 pounds, he brings notable size and production to the Panthers’ defense, which has lacked such presence at inside linebacker in recent years.
Last season with the Jaguars, Lloyd recorded 81 tackles and five interceptions. His performance included a memorable 99-yard interception return for a touchdown against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Over his career since being drafted in the first round out of Utah, Lloyd has accumulated nine interceptions, one forced fumble, and five fumble recoveries.
The Panthers had a total of 15 interceptions last year but have not seen significant coverage ability from their linebackers recently. In the past two seasons combined, only two interceptions came from linebackers—one by Christian Rozeboom in 2025 and another by Josey Jewell in 2024.
The Carolina Panthers have secured multiple division titles and playoff appearances according to the official website. The team also supports community outreach and philanthropy across North and South Carolina according to the official website. Home games are played in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina according to the official website, where fans can purchase season tickets, single-game tickets, premium seating options, and participate in fan experiences according to the official website.
Looking ahead, Lloyd’s addition is expected to strengthen both defensive playmaking and leadership as the Panthers continue building a championship culture while engaging with their community according to the official website.
