TOWN OF WAXHAW: Waxhaw Declares State of Emergency in Response to COVID-19

Cdc coronavirus 1000

Town of Waxhaw issued the following announcement on Mar. 16.

We are not on lockdown or under a curfew at this time. Section 2 & 3 is meant to communicate that the Town of Waxhaw will follow Union County Government’s lead on curfews and gatherings. We will be releasing more information as we receive it from the County.

At the time of this release, there are no known cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), in Union County. In an effort to be prepared, Waxhaw Mayor Ron Pappas has declared a State of Emergency for the Town of Waxhaw.

This declaration is a cautionary measure that allows the town’s administrative team to increase funding allocated for emergency purposes and sets parameters and guidelines for public safety and emergency personnel.
