North Carolina Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Forest, the state's lieutenant governor, promised to improve healthcare for residents much like he said President Trump has done while in office.
Forest's declaration came in an opinion article published in the North State Journal on Sept. 29.
In his opinion article, Forest said that his administration would give doctors incentives to practice in North Carolina's rural communities to improve access for patients.
He said with the help of the state treasure and General Assembly, they'd ensure residents know the cost of health services and prescription drug costs.
"I'll reopen our state in a responsible manner, which will allow people to get back to work and to access their employer health care once again, instead of relying on inadequate government services," Forest wrote in his opinion piece.
He also plans to help people stuck in the Affordable Care Act's coverage gap on private insurance.
