Charlotte 49ers softball issued the following announcement on July 20.
Charlotte 49ers softball coach Ashley Chastain has announced the signing of former Oregon outfielder Lexi Wagner (Venetia, Pa. / Seton Lasalle H.S.). Wagner played three seasons for the Ducks before transferring to Charlotte.
In her three seasons, Wagner played in 98 games, making 68 starts. She hit four doubles and three homers and drove in 29 runs in her career.
As a junior this past year, Wagner hit .250 with two home runs and 12 RBI in 31 games played while helping the Ducks to a 40-17 record and a trip to the 2021 NCAA Austin Regional. She made 21 starts, all in the outfield. In 2020 she made four starts in 21 games played in the pandemic-shortened season. She made an immediate impact for the Ducks as a freshman, starting 43 of 46 games played in 2019.
She was nation's No. 73 rated recruit by FloSoftball coming out of high school. The 2018 Gatorade Pennsylvania softball player of the year batted .680 with 14 home runs, 39 RBIs and a whopping 1.800 slugging percentage as a senior. She was named a 2018 PGF Northeast Region all-American and earned Class 2A Player of the Year honors from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as a junior.
