Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department issued the following announcement on July 28.
Help to find a second chance at life. That’s exactly Officer Wallace did for a member of our community in early-June. Officer Wallace was sent to a call where a young lady was armed with a knife and contemplating jumping from the roof of a tall building. Officer Wallace was able to get to the roof, coax her from the ledge and worked with other officers to bring her to safety. Officer Wallace’s unyielding value of human life compelled him to put himself in harm’s way to extend a second chance of life to a young member of our community.
