Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools issued the following announcement on Aug. 10.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent Earnest Winston announced new appointments at the Aug. 10 meeting of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education.

Christopher Bernard was named principal at James Martin Middle. He has been principal at University Meadows Elementary since 2014. He was dean of instruction at Druid Hills Academy (2013-2014); resident principal, New Leaders at Druid Hills Academy (2012-2013); and a teacher at Bruns Avenue K-8 (2008-2012) and Hidden Valley Elementary (1999-2008). Bernard earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the State University of New York College at Buffalo, Buffalo, N.Y., and a master's degree in elementary education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Casimir Bundrick was named principal at West Mecklenburg High. He has been assistant principal at West Mecklenburg since 2015 and was assistant principal at Highland Renaissance Academy (2015) and Garinger High (2014-2015). Bundrick was dean of students at Harding University High (2012-2014), where he also was acting dean of students, an administrative intern and social studies teacher (2006-2012). He earned a bachelor's degree in history from Utica College of Syracuse University, Utica, N.Y., and a master's degree in educational leadership from Gardner-Webb University.

Nathan Currie was named principal at Bruns Avenue Elementary. He has been principal at Cumberland Academy, Cumberland County Schools, since 2020. He was head of school at the N.C. Cyber Academy, Statewide Virtual Charter Schools (2014-2020) and assistant superintendent of administration at Rowan-Salisbury School System (2011-2014). Currie also was principal at H.D. Isenberg Elementary, Rowan-Salisbury School System (2008-2011); director of middle schools for Duplin County Schools (2006-2008); and assistant principal at North Rowan Middle, Rowan-Salisbury School System (2005-2006). He earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Livingstone College, Salisbury, and a master's degree in educational leadership from the University of Phoenix, Charlotte.

Travares Hicks was named principal at Tuckaseegee Elementary. He has been assistant principal at North Mecklenburg High since 2019. He was assistant principal at Eastway Middle (2017-2019) and dean of students at Vance High (2017). Hicks also was a teacher and principal intern at Northridge Middle (2015-2017) and taught at Lebanon Road Elementary (2013-2015). He earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of South Carolina Upstate, Spartanburg, S.C., and a master's degree in teaching from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Kimberly King was named principal at Charlotte Virtual Elementary. She has been director of virtual learning and media services since 2018. King was assistant principal at Montclaire Elementary (2013-2018) and academic facilitator, data coach and technology facilitator at Pinewood Elementary (2010-2013). She also was a principal intern at Pinewood Elementary (2009-2010) and a teacher at Forest View Elementary in Durham Public Schools (2005-2009). King earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Duke University, Durham, and a master's degree in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Sarah Lang was named principal at Charlotte East Language Academy, where she has been assistant principal since 2018. She was assistant principal at Sterling Elementary (2016-2018), as well as a principal intern at Albemarle Road Elementary (2013-2014) and Vance High (2013). Lang also was a Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol specialist/coach in EL Services (2010-2016) and a teacher at Albemarle Road Elementary (2004-2010) and Thomasboro Academy (1999-2004). She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education/urban education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Pa.; Master of Education in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; and master's degree in educational leadership from Winthrop University, Rock Hill, S.C.

Dr. Laura Rosenbach was named executive director for the Central 1 Learning Community. She has been principal at William A. Hough High since 2013 and was principal at Francis Bradley Middle (2010-2013), interim principal at Mallard Creek High (2009) and assistant principal at Mallard Creek (2007-2010). Dr. Rosenbach was an assistant principal and intern at Vance High (2004-2007), where she also was a teacher (1999-2005). She earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Davidson College, Davidson. She earned a master's degree in school administration and a doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction in urban education, both from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Brian Schultz was named chief operations officer. He has been acting/interim superintendent this year for Cabarrus County Schools, where he was deputy superintendent, administrative services (2020-2021) and assistant superintendent, auxiliary services (2019-2020). Schultz was chief academic officer for Guilford County Schools (2018-2019) and CMS (2014-2018). He also was executive director for the Northeast Learning Community (2013-2014), principal at Torrence Creek Elementary (2011-2013) and director of elementary education for Cabarrus County Schools (2006-2011). Schultz was principal at Royal Oaks Elementary (2002-2006) and assistant principal of instruction at Wolf Meadow Elementary (2000-2002) for Cabarrus County Schools. He earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Purdue University and a master's degree in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Dr. Ann White was named associate superintendent for student services. She has been assistant superintendent for Exceptional Children since 2017 and was executive director for the North Learning Community (2015-2017). Dr. White served in Hickory Public Schools as principal of Hickory High (2011-2015), director of curriculum and instruction (2006-2011) and director of accountability (2005-2006). She also was principal at Jenkins Elementary (2002-2005) and Oakwood Elementary (1999-2002), as well as a teacher at Longview Elementary (1993-1997). She earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Laurinburg, and master's degrees in elementary education from American University, Washington, D.C., and school administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Dr. White also earned an education specialist degree and a doctoral degree, both in education leadership, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
