Queens University of Charlotte issued the following announcement on Aug. 31.
Queens University of Charlotte is pleased to announce the 2021-2022 arts series Oct. 3 – Feb. 25 at the Sarah Belk Gambrell Center for the Arts and Civic Engagement. Presented by Arts at Queens as part of its new Spotlight Series, the series includes a diverse lineup of world-class performers and artists including Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Grammy Award-winner Chris Thile, The Knights with American jazz pianist Aaron Diehl, and a conversation with Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, Elizabeth Strout.
"In addition to sharing their remarkable talents on stage, these artists will help enhance student learning through master classes, guest artist Q&A sessions and other inspirational experiences," said Sara Henley, director of the Sarah Belk Gambrell Center for the Arts and Civic Engagement.

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue – Sunday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 PM
New Orleans native Troy Andrews – known as Trombone Shorty – will be joined by his longtime brass band Orleans Avenue.
An Evening with Chris Thile – Saturday, Nov. 20 at 8 PM
Acclaimed by NPR as a "genre-defying musical genius," Grammy-winner and MacArthur Fellow Chris Thile will showcase his strengths and musicianship as a solo performer.
The Knights with Aaron Diehl – Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, at 8 PM
Exploring the Flow Between Jazz, Classicism and European Modernism
Orchestra collective The Knights will be joined in this performance by pianist-composer Aaron Diehl.
A Conversation with Elizabeth Strout – Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, at 8 PM
American writer Elizabeth Strout, a founding member of the Masters of Fine Arts program at Queens, will share thoughts on her craft, read from her work and field questions from the audience.
"We are so excited to welcome our Charlotte neighbors back for the 2021-2022 season as we come together again," Henley said. "In many ways, the past year has proven how the arts are such a vital part of our lives as an extraordinary expression of our humanity and an inedible link to one another. We look forward to presenting cultural learning opportunities with these renowned artists and creatives this year."
