Mecklenburg County issued the following announcement on Sept. 10.
Mecklenburg County now has a new Chief Financial Officer. David Boyd was appointed to serve as the County’s latest CFO on August 9.
Boyd is replacing Sarah Cunningham who resigned from the role in 2020 and he will report to Deputy County Manager, Michael Bryant.
Boyd, a CPA, has nearly 30 years of experience in the financial field, with his most recent position serving as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Durham, where he managed all financial aspects of the City’s operations with an total annual budget of more than $500 million.
In his new role, Boyd will be responsible for providing leadership to a team of finance professionals that are tasked with functions including capital and debt planning, investments, accounting, payroll, procurement, grant management and payables along with providing additional fiscal support to departments across the County.
