University of North Carolina-Charlotte Athletics issued the following announcement on Dec. 2.

After playing the four-straight and five of their first six on the road, the Charlotte women's basketball team returns home to Halton Arena where they'll play four of their next five starting with Gardner-Webb on Friday night. The Niners will also host the ever-popular Teddy Bear Toss just in time for the holiday season.

"They have played a very tough schedule similar to us," began Head Coach Cara Consuegra. "They've been challenged and they played really well over the weekend. They're going to come in here, play hard and have some great pieces that we need to make sure we're taking care of. It's going to be a great game."

BACK IN THE LEFT COLUMN

Charlotte (2-4) got back in that left win column in dominating fashion topping St. John's (NY) last time out 82-64 in the Gulf Coast Showcase. Octavia Jett-Wilson capped off her Player of the Week status dropping 27 on the Red Storm while KeKe McKinney added 15 points and 10 boards for the team's first double-double of the year. Mikayla Boykin drained a career-high 18 in the win while Jacee Busick followed with a dozen. After a season-high six assists vs. #13 Iowa State the day before, Jada McMillian added three more against the Red Storm to start her climb up the C-USA stat sheet.

Consuegra on Last Weekend's Success

"We played much, much better in every area. We felt like it was coming improving day-by-day and week-by-week. We started to see the product of all our hard work. We're starting to get some chemistry on the offensive and defensive end. Players are understanding their roles and how to create shots for others."
