Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 10.
The CMPD Crime Lab was awarded the 2021 Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Grant which will fund the purchase of new equipment that will allow latent prints to be recovered from fired cartridge cases. Once implemented, CMPD will be one of the first agencies in the country with this technology. This is another great example of the hard work the employees in our crime lab are doing every day.
