A former standout on the court and still a key member of the Charlotte women's basketball staff, Dara Pearson has been promoted to Director of Player Development announced by head coach Cara Consuegra on Thursday afternoon.
"Dara is going into her eighth year overall with the program and is loyal, hard-working and passionate about Charlotte women's basketball," started Consuegra. "She has earned the opportunity to be elevated to this position. She cares greatly about our players and will continue to impact their lives and our program overall. I am thrilled that she is continuing to be a Niner!"
Pearson played in 112 career games in uniform as a career 50% shooting from the field over her 20 minutes/game. The Hampton, Virginia product pulled down 588 career boards averaging just over five/game while posting 78 blocks in the paint. Starting 46 of her final 52 games, Pearson posted a career-best 63% shooting season in 2019-20 and followed up at a 55% clip in her final season a year later.
"I would have never thought I would have gone from playing for coach Cara to being a graduate assistant and now to being a full-time employee," began Pearson. I have been a part of this program since 2015 and Charlotte has always had a special place in my heart. I am grateful for this opportunity and so excited to stay home here at Charlotte."
After her five years on the hardwood, Pearson joined the staff as a graduate manager for last year's championship winning 2021-22 season before being promoted into a full-time role.
