Charlotte women's golf will play in 11 tournaments during the 2022-23 season which includes hosting the first-ever tournament in program history this fall as head coach Ryan Ashburn announced the full schedule on Monday morning. Highlighting this season's events will be a home tournament at Cabarrus Country Club in late October, after a season-opening event out west, a fall-ending trip to Mexico and spring-opening tournament in Las Vegas.
"I'm really excited about this year," began Ashburn. "I truly believe between our four returners and four newcomers, we have created depth within our team that allows us to compete at the highest level. Our goal has always been to compete against the best teams in the country and I feel this schedule gives us that opportunity."
SEPTEMBER START
The 2022-23 season officially begins in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Dick McGuire Invitational September 12-13. A week later, a stop at The "Mo"Morial follows before a return trip to the Evie Odom Invitational in Virginia Beach rounds out the opening month.
HOME TOURNEY, MEXICO IN OCTOBER
The first-ever Charlotte Invitational will take place October 24th and 25th out at the Cabarrus Country Club with a 54-hole event beginning with 36 holes on that Monday. Immediately after the home tournament, the 49ers head down to Cabo in Mexico for the three-day Battle at the Beach October 28-30 to complete the fall portion of the schedule.
VEGAS BABY
A trip to Las Vegas begins the spring slate February 19-21 after the winter break as the Niners compete in UNLV's The Show at Spanish Trail. Less than a week later, it's back to work in The Icon at the Golf Club of Houston.
MARCH'S MAD DASH
The UNF Collegiate Invitational begins the dash to the postseason March 6-7 in Jacksonville, Florida before a closer trip to home going to the Georgia State Invitational March 27-28. The Bruzzy rounds out the regular season portion of play April 1-2 before conference action begins.
AND IT BEGINS AT PGA NATIONAL
The 49ers begin their postseason performance heading back to PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida for the annual Conference USA Championship on April 17-19. The winner claims the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament which begins with regional play May 15-17. Grayhawk Golf Club once again hosts this year's finals May 26-31 in Arizona.
