Men's Rugby Edges Wheeling in Season Opener

In the 2022 season opener, the Queens University of Charlotte men's rugby team edged out Wheeling University by a final score of 22-19 at the Queens Sports Complex. The victory in the season opener is the Royals first opening day victory since 2019.

"Today was our first game of the season. It was not pretty but the boys finished," said Head Coach Frank McKinney.

Hilton Oliver and Carson Green led the team in conversions with one each. Tom Keay, Trevion Reed, and Tom Scott also impacted the game and Coach McKinney expects them to be key players for the remainder of the season.

The Royals will be back home Saturday, September 10, 2022 when they welcome Penn State to the Queens Sports Complex at 10:00 AM. The Nittany Lions come to Charlotte after taking down the Royals 32-31 in the NCR National Semifinals last season.
