We would like to welcome 8 lateral entry trainees to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. They started their training at the Police Academy on Monday and have gotten off to a great start here in Charlotte. These Officers come from as far as California, New York and Louisiana. Our lateral officers join our department with a higher base pay and a shortened academy because of their previous law enforcement experience.
