Queens takes on reigning ASUN champions

Queens headed south to the Sunshine State for a pair of ASUN matchups, the first of which against the reigning ASUN champions in Florida Gulf Coast. Queens battled but fell short to the Eagles in straight sets (25-12, 25-17, 25-11).

Alleigh and Jordyn Johnson helped spearhead Queens' offensive attack in the first set with four and three kills, respectively. The Royals fought hard and held a two-point deficit early after Jordyn earned two kills on three points. The Eagles managed to put together a strong run in the middle portion of the set. Queens refused to go down without a fight, earning seven of the last 11 points but their efforts fell short, as FGCU managed to take the first set.

Queens managed its highest point total in the second set with a stronger offensive showing which saw setter Kendall Buish excel in ball distribution with five different players registering kills in the set. Alleigh Johnson and Kayling Dowling also managed an ace each, helping increase Dowling's team-lead in aces with 21. Florida Gulf Coast would eventually take a 2-0 lead in sets with a 25-17 victory in the second.

Alleigh Johnson managed another trio of kills in the third set to help spark Queens' offense, however although Queens continued to play hard, FGCU's attack was too powerful, taking the set and ultimately the match.
