Shaniya Jones scored 20 points but the Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team dropped an 73-68 decision to Augusta University inside the George A. Christenberry Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening.
Three other Golden Bull scored in double figures. Tyliah Burns scored 16, India Howard 12 and Jill Harris chipped in 10 points. Howard led the Golden Bulls with eight boards on the night.
JCSU (0-3) trailed by five (36-31) at the break.
For the contest, the Golden Bulls shot 47-percent from the floor (24-64), 16-percent from the three-point line (3-18) and nailed only 17-of-26 from the foul line for 65-percent. Augusta (2-1) scored 15 points off of JCSU's 17 turnovers.
The Golden Bulls will look to regroup when they host Bluefield State University for a nonconference tilt on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 12:00 p.m.
