The Panthers have bolstered their secondary by signing safety Clayton Isbell, a former Coastal Carolina defensive back. Isbell, who will wear number 28 for the team, was initially with the Panthers earlier in the offseason as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft.

Isbell's college career began at Illinois State before he transferred to Utah and eventually spent his final year of eligibility at Coastal Carolina. During his last season, he recorded 89 total tackles, five passes defended, one sack, and three interceptions.

In a corresponding roster move, the Panthers waived/injured tight end Curtis Hodges.

The team is scheduled to return to practice this afternoon and will continue with their third padded practice on Sunday.
