The Panthers have bolstered their tight end roster with the signing of veteran Jacob Hollister on Sunday. This addition comes as the team faced a thinning tight end group during training camp.

Hollister, an alumnus of Wyoming, entered the NFL in 2017 as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots. Over his career, he has played for several teams including the Seahawks, Bills, Jaguars, Raiders, and Vikings. His most productive seasons were with the Seattle Seahawks, where he recorded 66 receptions for 558 yards and six touchdowns over two years.

The Panthers' tight end unit has recently been impacted by injuries, leading to practices with only three players available. Offensive coordinator Dave Canales emphasized the urgency of signing another tight end. "Really practicing with three tight ends is really iffy," Canales stated on Saturday. "So, we're looking, we're doing our due diligence. We have some guys that we got our eye on that we're going to try to bring in in short order because we got to be able to practice with a strong group. It's good for both sides."

Canales further explained the necessity of having multiple tight ends: "The defense needs to see multiple tight end sets, a big part of what we do. So we'll definitely be looking for somebody else to have another opportunity to show us who they are, in case we need them going forward."

In conjunction with Hollister's signing, the Panthers waived/injured wide receiver Devin Carter.
