The Carolina Panthers have made several roster changes following their bye week. On Monday, the team added cornerback Caleb Farley to their 53-man roster and placed tight end Ian Thomas on injured reserve.
Farley has participated in the last three games as a standard elevation from the practice squad, reaching his limit there. As a former first-round pick of the Titans, he joins a revamped cornerback group that includes Mike Jackson, acquired via trade, Dane Jackson through free agency, and Jaycee Horn.
Ian Thomas sustained a calf injury during the pre-bye victory in Germany and was unable to complete the game. He had previously missed five games this season due to another calf injury and will now be sidelined for at least four more weeks.
In addition, the Panthers have opened the practice window for outside linebacker Amaré Barno to return from the physically unable to perform list. Barno has been out since tearing his ACL last year against the Packers on Christmas Eve.
On Monday, they also signed defensive tackle Sam Roberts to their practice squad. Roberts, a former sixth-round pick by the Patriots from Northwest Missouri State, played 12 games with one start over two seasons with New England. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound player joined the Bears' practice squad in August but was released with an injury settlement in early October.
