The Carolina Panthers have expanded their roster by signing two players to reserve/future contracts. The additions include outside linebacker Carlos "Boogie" Basham and tight end James Mitchell.
Basham, aged 27, was initially drafted in the second round by the Buffalo Bills in 2021 after his college career at Wake Forest. At that time, Dan Morgan, now the general manager of the Panthers, was part of the Bills' front office team involved in drafting him. In 2023, Basham was traded to the New York Giants. Over his four-season career, he has participated in 40 games and recorded a total of 4.5 sacks.
James Mitchell, who is 25 years old, joins from the Detroit Lions where he spent this year on their practice squad. Originally a fifth-round pick for Detroit, Mitchell is an alumnus of Virginia Tech standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 246 pounds. Over three seasons with Detroit, he appeared in 30 games and achieved 13 catches for a total of 141 yards along with one touchdown.
