The Carolina Panthers have re-signed JJ Jansen, their longest-tenured player, for another year. The 39-year-old long snapper has been with the team since 2009 and will enter his 17th season. Jansen has played in more games than any other player in the franchise's history, surpassing John Kasay's record in December 2022.

Jansen's total of 260 games places him at 41st on the NFL's all-time list. If he plays every game this season, he could rise to 27th place, overtaking notable players such as Jan Stenerud, Julius Peppers, Peyton Manning, Junior Seau, Lou Groza, and Tony Gonzalez.

Reflecting on his career, Jansen said: "I always think to myself, those guys are mighty impressive because those positions that they play are a lot more physically challenging than mine." He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue playing: "The Lord has been very kind to us. This organization has been very kind to us."

Jansen shares the all-time games played record with former Lions long snapper Don Muhlbach (260), while only Trey Junkin (281) has played more games at the position. Jansen recalls watching Junkin as a young Cardinals fan: "Trey was the first snapper I ever watched play."

Throughout his career with the Panthers, Jansen has worked under eight head coaches and is one of just six long snappers in the team's history. He joined the Panthers after being traded from Green Bay before the 2009 season.

"It's wild to think because I watched those guys play a really long time," Jansen remarked about players who spent their entire careers with one team. His continued presence adds to his legacy within the organization.
