Charlotte FC faced a challenging start to their season, securing a point against Seattle Sounders in their opening match. The game, played under rainy conditions on the West Coast, saw Charlotte battling hard to draw 2-2 with the Western Conference favorites.

Seattle's Jordan Morris scored twice, giving his team control of the match late into the second half. However, substitute Idan Toklomati's efforts led to an own goal by Seattle in the final moments, allowing Charlotte to leave with a point.

The absence of Wilfried Zaha was noted as he missed the match for personal reasons. Kerwin Vargas and Liel Abada took positions on the wings for Charlotte. Meanwhile, Seattle fielded a rotated lineup following their midweek CONCACAF Champions Cup match but maintained their strong defensive line from 2024.

Seattle applied pressure early with a high press that challenged Charlotte's ability to maintain possession. Despite this, Charlotte managed to equalize through Adilson Malanda after Pep Biel delivered a corner kick.

In the second half, another goal from Morris put Seattle ahead again. However, substitutions and tactical changes allowed Charlotte to regain some control. Kristijan Kahlina made crucial saves to keep them in contention.

Ultimately, Toklomati's late cross resulted in an own goal by Yeimar of Seattle, ending the match in a draw. This result gives both teams one point each as they look forward to their next fixtures.
