The Carolina Panthers have reportedly reached an agreement with Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton. This move is part of the Panthers' efforts to strengthen their defense. According to reports, including one from NFL Network, the agreement was made on Monday.
Wharton, who is 26 years old, recorded 6.5 sacks last season for the Chiefs and has been developing a significant role within their defense. Originally an undrafted rookie from Division II Missouri S&T, he has participated in 72 games and accumulated 13.5 career sacks.
Wharton will join forces with Derrick Brown and A'Shawn Robinson as the Panthers work on enhancing their defensive lineup. Additionally, the team reportedly agreed to terms with Rams defensive tackle Bobby Brown III earlier that day.
Furthermore, the Panthers are said to have agreements in place with outside linebacker Patrick Jones II and former Raiders safety Tre'Von Moehrig. They also extended cornerback Jaycee Horn's contract earlier in the morning.
No deals can be finalized until the new league year starts on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
