The Carolina Panthers have reportedly reached an agreement with Raiders safety Tre'Von Moehrig, according to multiple sources including NFL Network. The deal is set to become official once the league year commences on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Moehrig, a 25-year-old Texas Christian University alumnus from Spring Branch, Texas, has spent four years with the Las Vegas Raiders. Known for his versatility in the secondary, Moehrig will join the Panthers as a prominent safety.

During his high school career, Moehrig played as a cornerback before transitioning to safety at TCU. By his sophomore year, he earned All-Big 12 honors and won the Jim Thorpe Award as a junior for being the nation's top defensive back. Drafted by the Raiders in the second round (43rd overall), Moehrig initially served as a deep safety for three years before moving closer to the line of scrimmage in 2024. He excelled as a run stopper with 104 tackles and ranked sixth among safeties with an 87.5 run defense grade from Pro Football Focus.

Moehrig's performance near the ball allowed him to record 13 quarterback pressures, ranking second among qualifying safeties. He concluded 2024 with career highs of ten passes defended and two interceptions. Notably, against Tampa Bay in 2024, he achieved three passes defended in one game—a feat not accomplished by a Raiders safety since Week 10 of 2019.

Off the field, Moehrig harbors a passion for reptiles that began in childhood after reading about them. His collection includes turtles, snakes, lizards, and even a bearded dragon. Despite being bitten only once by his first turtle, Moehrig continues to care for various reptiles.

Beyond reptiles, Moehrig engages in diverse hobbies such as golf and snowboarding during offseasons. He has also modeled for fashion collections and plays electric guitar recreationally.

Looking ahead to life after football, Moehrig hopes to remain connected to sports through broadcasting or coaching roles. "It's easy to say now," he mentioned to reporters previously regarding his post-NFL aspirations.

Moehrig cherishes memorable moments from his NFL career so far—one being intercepting Patrick Mahomes during Week 8 of the 2024 season while playing against Kansas City Chiefs twice annually over eight games where he accumulated notable stats including six passes defended along with one interception: "Any interception I try keeping afterwards because that's something you'll remember after football," said Moehring following this achievement; particularly emphasizing its significance given Mahomes' stature within professional football circles: "but Patrick Mahomes [is] big deal especially since they took my one last year away."
