Panthers legend Jonathan Stewart recently shared insights on managing dual 1,000-yard running backs, drawing from lessons learned under former position coach Jim Skipper. In a conversation earlier this week, Stewart fondly recalled the influence of Skipper and even mimicked his distinctive Louisiana baritone voice: "Yeah baby, go get 'em," he said with a laugh.

Stewart took advantage of his trip to Phoenix to play nine holes of golf with Skipper, who remains an avid golfer. Reflecting on their time together, Stewart emphasized the impact Skipper had on understanding the business side of football. "The biggest thing about him was that he taught us more about the business side of football," Stewart noted. He credited Skipper for instilling in players the importance of aligning personal goals with team objectives.

"The longevity piece is huge," Stewart continued. "You have to do your job. You have to play your part. You have to know your role." He highlighted Skipper's consistent message: "'Hey baby, you're blessed to be here,'" as a key factor in players' long-term success in the league.

Jim Skipper's coaching career includes joining the Panthers in 2002 under head coach John Fox and returning in 2013 with Ron Rivera until retiring after the 2018 season. His extensive experience also spans coaching stints in the USFL and with Dom Capers at the Saints during the 1980s and 1990s.
