Nick Scott, a key player for the Panthers, is back to lead the special teams and safeties. In an interview, Scott shared insights into his personal life and professional responsibilities while holding his baby daughter, Noa. "This is Noa," he said proudly. "Three months old; she's a big girl." His son also joined the conversation with enthusiasm.

Scott discussed the challenges of maintaining consistency in the NFL amid constant changes. He expressed relief at not having to relocate his family again and emphasized his focus on improving the Panthers' defense and special teams unit for the upcoming season.

Scott has been recognized as a leader both on special teams and in the locker room, serving as a game captain twice last year. The Panthers valued his leadership qualities and brought him back for another season. "I think it means for everybody it's going to be a little bit of an increase of a leadership role for guys that have been here," Scott explained.

He highlighted the importance of communication within the team, especially with only two players having prior experience in this defense. Scott acknowledged that much of this responsibility falls on him due to his familiarity with the system from previous years.

The addition of Tre'von Moehrig to the safety unit was noted by Scott, who aims to guide Moehrig in adapting quickly to their defensive strategies. "We brought in a safety who's extremely talented," said Scott, emphasizing Moehrig's potential once he understands their system.

On special teams, new punter Sam Martin joins as they replace key players like Lonnie Johnson and Feleipe Franks. Scott stressed building their own identity rather than replicating last year's team performance. He praised Tracy Smith, their special teams coordinator, saying, "Tracy is one of the best special teams coordinators out there."

Reflecting on changes since joining the Panthers, Scott feels optimistic about staying with a familiar coaching staff and seeing progress within the team. He noted a shift towards seriousness and belief among players and coaches compared to when he first arrived.

"I've definitely seen a shift in this building," said Scott. He expressed excitement about being part of a team with growing confidence in its ability to win games and compete effectively within their division.
