When Tetairoa McMillan played high school football in Southern California, he initially aimed to wear the number 11, but it was unavailable. “I wore 4 in high school just because my number got taken,” McMillan said Friday at Bank of America Stadium. “I was like, what’s the next best option?”
Choosing number 4 proved beneficial for McMillan, as he went on to become a five-star recruit, catching 26 touchdowns over three seasons at Arizona, and eventually becoming the eighth overall pick in the NFL Draft. Reflecting on its success, McMillan decided to continue wearing the number 4 in his professional career.
On Friday, McMillan saw his new team colors for the first time. During the draft events, he held up a stock number 1 to represent his draft round and a stock number 25 for the draft year. However, in the upcoming fall season, fans will see him sporting the number 4 jersey.
For those interested, McMillan’s jerseys are available for pre-order. His first appearance with the number 4 jersey will be during the rookie minicamp in May.
