A Charlotte firefighter faces multiple counts of larceny after the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrested the 41-year-old suspect for stealing from a Target, authorities said.
Authorities alleged that firefighter Timothy Michael Ireland stole more than $500 between April 30 and May 24, Patch reported on May 27, from the Target store at 900 Metropolitan Ave. Authorities learned about the alleged thefts after Target contacted the department. Ireland was charged with seven counts of misdemeanor larceny.
Charlotte Fire Department Chief Reginald Johnson expressed his disappointment in Ireland’s arrest to a local TV station, Patch reported. Ireland has been with the department for more than a decade.
“This does not represent or reflect our values as a Department,” Johnson told WBTV, Patch reported. “I have the highest expectations of our members on how they conduct themselves on-duty as well as off-duty.”
The case is ongoing. Authorities as that anyone with information to call the department or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
