The City of Charlotte informed residents that the Charlotte Storm Water Services Department (SWSD) won the National Municipal Stormwater and Green Infrastructure award.
"Charlotte Storm Water Services’ Surface Water Quality Program works year-round to protect and improve the water quality of thousands of miles of streams and numerous acres of lakes, ponds and wetlands," city officials said in an October release. "Now, the organization has a prestigious award to show for it.
Due to this steady dedication to providing better quality water, Charlotte SWSD was awarded the National Municipal Stormwater and Green Infrastructure “Overall Performance” award.
The award was provided by the Water Environment Federation. The federation announced the award during the national conference it holds annually.
The SWSD also earned the “Gold Level” classification in the "innovation and project management categories."
The National Municipal Stormwater and Green Infrastructure Awards program is given to honor stormwater agencies that never fail to observe national and local ordinances that ensure quality water.
