Town of Waxhaw issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.

Town of Waxhaw 2020 Property Taxes Due January 5th

Town of Waxhaw 2020 taxes are due by January 5, 2021. Postmark is accepted.

Escrowed taxes are mailed directly to the mortgage company and the homeowner will not receive a bill.  However, they should always check with their mortgage company to verify taxes have been received and paid by the due date. 

Interest accrues on taxes not paid or postmarked by January 5, 2021 at a rate of 2% for the first month, and 3/4 % each month thereafter. 

Delinquent taxes are subject to garnishment of wages and/or bank accounts, levy on personal property, foreclosure proceedings, and advertisement in local newspaper. 

Additionally, following current national guidelines regarding COVID-19 including social distancing and minimizing exposure to staff and residents, the Town of Waxhaw encourages residents to make tax payments online at www.waxhaw.com, or by mail to:  

Town of Waxhaw – PO Box 603983 – Charlotte, NC  28260-3983 

Please make sure the remittance coupon is included with your payment. 

If you do choose to pay at the Town Hall, you may place your payment in the Drop Box located beside the front entrance door. Please note:

  1. It is also highly encouraged to pay with a Money Order instead of paying in cash. 
  2. If you choose to come inside Town Hall, you will have to sign in, self-take your temperature, and wear a face mask before reaching the front counter.
