Atrium Health Earns Multiple U.S. News & World Report Honors Including Top Hospital in Charlotte and Best in Rehabilitation

Award

Atrium Health issued the following announcement on July 27.

Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center is being recognized as the “Best Hospital” in the Charlotte metro region for the fifth consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report. Also given a prestigious recognition is Atrium Health Carolinas Rehabilitation, which has been named among the top 15 facilities in the nation for rehabilitation and is the only rehabilitation hospital in Charlotte to be given this distinction.

“These esteemed recognitions are a true testament of the commitment to clinical excellence embodied daily by our caregivers,” said Eugene A. Woods, president and CEO of Atrium Health. “I could not be more proud of our physicians, nurses and support staff for their unwavering dedication to our patients. And I am deeply appreciative that the incredible care the Atrium Health family provides to our community is being recognized nationally in this way.”

This year marks the first appearance for Carolinas Rehabilitation on U.S. News & World Report’s national “Best Hospitals for Rehabilitation Care” list. As one of the nation’s leading – and largest – rehabilitation providers, Atrium Health delivers comprehensive, state-of-the-art care and top outcomes. Backed by Atrium Health’s award-winning flagship hospital Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, Carolinas Rehabilitation offers an unmatched level of expertise in the Southeast. Board-certified doctors, nurses and therapists specialize in innovative, personalized therapy for common to complex conditions due to injury or illness.

In 2009, Atrium Health Carolinas Rehabilitation established the first Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) certified Rehabilitation Patient Safety Organization in the United States and in 2019 was honored for its commitment to improving patient safety and quality, recognized by the American Hospital Association’s with the Quest for Quality Prize, the only rehabilitation hospital to ever win this award.

“For the past decade, Atrium Health Carolinas Rehabilitation has strengthened our commitment to expert clinical care to become one of the best rehabilitation hospitals in the country,” said Robert Larrison, facility executive for Atrium Health Carolinas Rehabilitation. “We are honored to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report on its inaugural list of the Top 15 rehabilitation hospitals and the best rehab hospital in the Carolinas. We look forward to opening our new and reimagined rehabilitation hospital in the fall of 2022 to better serve the southeastern United States.”
