Charlotte Fire Department issued the following announcement on Sept. 23.
The Charlotte Fire Department Explorer Post hosted its 39th annual open house at the Charlotte Police and Fire Department Training Academy on Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Its primary purpose is to provide fire service career awareness to young men and women ages 10-20 years of age. Nearly 700 kids and young adults have enjoyed the memorable experience of learning what it takes to become a firefighter. This hands-on experience is accomplished through a program that utilizes classroom lectures, practical applications, and opportunities to ride along with fire crews. Our program seeks to instill in each Explorer member the importance of being a good team member, a responsible citizen, and striving to be the best that they can be.
