Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department issued the following announcement on Oct. 7.
Building Bridges Through Basketball is an award-winning 10-week community leadership program as part of the NBA Voices initiative that uses basketball to unite youth and law enforcement in cities across the country.
The program, a partnership between the NBA, RISE, and Under Armour, is designed to break barriers, build trust and create pathways for positive communication. Weekly sessions combine basketball training with leadership and cultural competency curriculum designed by RISE which focuses on identity, diversity, empathy, conflict resolution, and other themes. CMPD is proud to be actively involved in this collaborative program.
