Defending C-USA Champs Begin Season at Rod Myers Invitational Friday-Saturday

The Charlotte men's golf team, reigning champions of Conference USA, begin their 2022-23 trek towards the NCAA Championships once again with the Rod Myers Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Durham.

"It's always exciting to kick off a new year and a new season," started Head Coach Ryan Cabbage. "The cool thing is every year is going to be a little different than in years past regardless of how many returning guys you have or how much experience you have coming back. Each team has guys that take on different roles and responsibilities of leadership or maybe roles within the lineup so we'll know a little bit more about our team after this week. I like the make up of this team and excited to see what these guys can do the next few days at Duke."

FIRST FIVE-MAN TEAM

The 49ers will send Ben Woodruff, Dongjin Park, Carson Ownbey, Tanner Guthrie and Dougie Ergood to compete in Durham.

LAST SEASON'S SUCCESS

Charlotte qualified as the fourth seed in the C-USA Championship before taking the title in match play. Park was named the league's Golfer of the Year while Woodruff was also named a first team performer prior to both earning all-region honors. Ownbey took home third team honors while Guthrie and Ergood will make their 49er debuts this weekend.

FRIDAY SHOTGUN START

Charlotte will play 36 holes on Friday with UNCW and North Florida starting on holes five through seven. Play begins at 9:15 a.m.
