Charlotte Hornets sign Tidjane Salaün as sixth overall pick

Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson announced today that the team has signed Tidjane Salaün, the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A native of Paris, Salaün averaged 9.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 54 games (40 starts) this season across all competitions with Cholet Basket of the LNB Elite league, France’s top division. He played the previous two campaigns for Espoirs Cholet of France’s U21 league, recording 11.5 points (50.7 FG%, 35.9 3P%), 5.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.0 steals in 63 outings (42 starts).

The 6-9 Salaün was named the 2023-24 Basketball Champions League Best Young Player and earned MVP honors at the 2023 Trophy of the Future tournament. His experience includes participating in the 2023 Basketball Without Borders camp at All-Star weekend in Indianapolis and representing France at the 2023 FIBA U18 European Championship.

Salaün’s sister, Janelle, plays professional basketball in France.
