Charlotte Hornets finalize coaching staff additions for upcoming season

Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson announced the finalization of the team's coaching staff for the 2024-25 season. The Hornets have hired Lamar Skeeter, Josh Longstaff, Chris Jent, Blaine Mueller, Ryan Frazier, Matt Hill, and Jermaine Bucknor as assistant coaches under Head Coach Charles Lee.

Additionally, Zach Peterson has been appointed as an assistant coach and director of player development, while Kemba Walker will serve as a player enhancement coach. The team also completed its video room staff with new hires.

Lamar Skeeter joins the Hornets with 11 years of NBA coaching experience. He spent the last decade with the Utah Jazz, progressing from a player development coach to lead assistant. His previous roles include a stint with the Atlanta Hawks in 2013-14 and time on the coaching staff for the Canton Charge in 2012-13. A native of Dayton, Ohio, Skeeter played college basketball at Walsh University.

Josh Longstaff brings 14 years of NBA coaching experience to Charlotte. He previously served four seasons as an assistant with the Chicago Bulls and held positions with Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder. Longstaff also led the Erie BayHawks during their 2017-18 campaign. He is originally from Portland, Maine.

Chris Jent arrives after two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers and has accumulated 16 years of NBA coaching experience. His resume includes roles with Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic (where he was interim head coach), Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, and Atlanta Hawks. Jent also coached at Ohio State University and played in the NBA for Houston Rockets and New York Knicks.

Blaine Mueller started his NBA career with Milwaukee Bucks in 2018 and rose to become an assistant coach by 2022-23. Most recently head coach of Maine Celtics in Boston's G League affiliate for one season, Mueller led them to the G League Finals before rejoining Boston's staff en route to their championship run this year.

Ryan Frazier began his coaching journey at George Mason University before joining Milwaukee Bucks as a video/player development assistant in 2018-19. His subsequent roles included head video coordinator for Phoenix Suns and assistant coach for New Orleans Pelicans over three seasons.

Matt Hill transitions from Phoenix Suns where he served as an assistant coach during the last season after spending five seasons in similar capacities at Atlanta Hawks and earlier roles at Orlando Magic since starting his career there in 2012.

Jermaine Bucknor offers extensive international experience both as a player and coach following a notable career that spanned multiple countries including Argentina, Belgium, France among others; most recently serving as player development coach for Boston Celtics during last season.

Zach Peterson comes aboard following two seasons assisting Los Angeles Clippers' bench having worked prior stints developing players across various teams including Oklahoma City Thunder where he started his career alongside Atlanta Hawks later assuming video coordination duties culminating latest role aiding German national team through EuroBasket competition
